Legacy

What we pass on

Some houses bequeath gold. Some bequeath silence. We intend to hand down a thing far harder to spend, and far harder to lose.

The house

What matters

The Pact

Five words, and the promise underneath them. Every Harrelson old enough to mean it is asked to take it once, in their own name, in front of the whole house.

01Honor
02Responsibility
03Faithfulness
04Family
05Perseverance

Five words. Not one of them comes free. Each was paid for in full by someone who came before us, and each falls due again in every generation that follows.

The oath is taken once, and the house keeps the record.

Built forward

Nothing good arrives by accident

No brighter age arrives by accident. It is built the slow way — deliberately, patiently, and with love for those who may never learn what it cost. You will not always live to see the harvest. Plant regardless.

Influences

Where the iron comes from

The Red Rising Saga — all six books — Pierce Brown's account of a man born to the dust who refused to remain small, and who learned the harder lesson beneath it: to rise means nothing unless you carry others up with you. Beside it stand the Stoics of Greece and Rome, who held that the only possessions truly owned are character and conduct.

A letter forward

To those who come after us:

Build something that matters. Live with courage. Love your family loudly and serve them quietly. Do hard things without complaint — the hardships are not in the way of the stars, they are the way to them.

Guard the name. It was carried a long distance through a lot of dark to reach you, and it arrives in your hands unbroken.

Leave the world stronger, steadier, and more hopeful than you found it. Then teach someone else to do the same.
